Tis the season...
Each year the high tech gift options get better and better and consumers are faced with hard decisions when choosing what to buy for their kids:
How much to spend?
Am I getting best value?
What best suites their needs?
We need to add some questions to the list of things to consider:
What all are all of the devices capabilities?
Is it GPS enabled? (Scroll down to see previous blog on that on 11/2010)
Can you monitor activities?
Do you have a usage agreement on whats acceptable usage?
As you can see it is not as simple as handing them the device saying have fun like the toys of their youth. Its like handing them the keys to the car and with that comes the need to talk with them about the issues having the technology provides.
Be the parent, ensure your kids have a safe online experience by having the safety discussions about online activities and establish an Internet Usage Agreement. For more information on the topic see Common Sense Media's write up on the topic. (Click on Blog Title to take you to their article) Think through their comments and the questions listed above.
Have a happy holiday season.

I am a strong believer that technology not only makes the learning process much more fun, but it also creates allows a more hands-on experience for kids! If you are interested in other educational products for kids, I would check out our educational apps! :)
